General
1854 - Providence House was built for local land owner Thomas Tombleston. The building is in an impressive neo-classical style.This house has had many uses down the years. The Nation Children's Home has also used the building as an orphange. It has been used as a school annexe. It is currently the Barton Library and also the Adult Education Centre.
2006 - the building was extended.
