Wrawby Windmill
was built around 1760 &
is now the last working postmill in the North
of England. The mill is located high on the Lincolnshire
Wolds on the site of the previous open trestle
postmill.
The current mill lost a sail in 1940 & was
then left unused until 1961 when permission was
requested to knock the mill down. Fortunately,
a preservation group was formed to save the mill
and to completely restore it. On the 18th Sept
1965, after a gap of 25 years the sails were set
in motion to grind the first bag of corn.
Wrawby
Postmill
has
a number of Open Days throughout
the year where a Souvenir Shop and refreshments
are available.
