Title: Horkstow Hall
Post by YaBB Administrator on 24. Jun 2006 at 08:00

Horkstow Hall dates back to 1776 and was built for Admiral Thomas Shirley. During the building of the kitchen garden the remains of a roman villa were found. A site of a Roman Villa was discovered in the grounds of Horkstow Hall in 1797 when a large mosaic pavement was found. The now famous mosaic floor depicting a chariot race can now be seen at Hullís Archaeological Museum.
