The
Location - on
the east bank of the River Trent five miles from Crowle.
In
1196 the village was referred to as "Burengham".
Other
names - for the village include Buringeham, Burringeham
& Burningham.
The
name - can be translated to 'homestead of the dwellers
on the stream' (Mills), alternatively
'homestead, estate of the Burgredinga or the Burgricingas'.
