Frederick Hopper was born in 1859 & started to make bicycles in his small engineering and whitesmith's workshop in Barton-on-Humber in 1880. Elswick Cycle Company of Newcastle went bankrupt & Fred and his partners bought the company in 1910 and initially decided to manufacture both Hopper and Elswick brands.
In 1913 Elswick Hopper Cycle and Motor Company Ltd. was registered in June of this year.
In 1974 Elswick Hopper purchased Wearwell Cycles.
Elswick-Hopper Cycles and Falcon Cycles merged
In 1982 Elswick-Hopper Cycles and Falcon Cycles merged.
Initially the merged company was known as Elswick-Falcon Cycles, which was subsequently shortened to its Falcon Cycles limited.
The bikes are assembled in Brigg from parts manufactured in the Far East.
